An idiot for dinner – English play Review

idiotSome time back on a Sunday me a Abhay (colleague) went for an English play “An Idot For A Dinner” and it was laugh riot.

It seems the play was a translation from French Play Le dîner de cons and  The hindi movie Bheja Fry was also an adoption from the same play.

Bangaluru has good crowd for plays I was surprised to see the number of the people attended the play. I was expecting some 200 people but I think there were more than 400 I guess thats a huge crowd. the play was at Good Ahepherd Auditorium Residency Road. staged by Evam and the Boardwalkers.

I was laughing like anything for the entire play it was superb and they acted very well. specifically the golden group’s character is tooo good.

Here are some the Pic’s from the play.
blog

May be because it was my 2nd of third play I was watching after very very long time i found it so good. but i can say one thing that its not just worth money but a lot more and good entertainer. if you know the story of the bheja fry it is more or less the same but performed on the stage thats it. I did not watched beja fry before thats also one of the reason i enjoyed it so much :)

IWOZ

“iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon: How I Invented the Personal Computer, Co-Founded Apple, and Had Fun Doing It.” The book, co-written with Gina Smith, a journalist, and published by W.W. Norton & Co.,

Iwoz .. its an autobiography of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak , Read this book to get to know about american Geek life. BTW this book is not a technical book, it is quite entertaining, light reading. it tells about the thrill of invention and the purity of entrepreneurship. the best part of this book is about his pranks and college life.

i woz book cover

i woz book cover

These are some of the things i learnt form the book

  • How Wozniak played the great role in Personal computer revolution
  • Apple was largest seller of PC’s in the world before IBM made its PC and Apple IPO made over night millionaires
  • Lot about Apple and Steve jobs.
  • the greatest engineers of our time worked as cartoon character at shopping malls for part time job and for some money.
  • Some insight about how American’s felt about Vietnam war and there government at that point of time.
  • College life in America and Drugs
  • about ham radio and some of the pranks he played in college and work. i really love them they are toooo good.
  • Woz effort bring Russians and Americans together and how crazy to spend 12 millions for US Festivals for 2 times both time he lost most of the money.
  • How he left apple and he worked as teacher for 10 years teaching at school.

Nonetheless, in my opinion iWoz is still a book worthwhile reading. The book is quite entertaining and presents an important piece of computer history and a great revolution of our Era. Steve Wozniak’s experience can be a great source of inspiration for all engineers and Geeks out there.Every engineer—and certainly every engineering student—should read this book.

Sree ram, Srikanth and Max this is must read for you guys…

Infy campus

This weekend I went to infy campus with swathi. seriously the campus is god damn good, superb, awesome. i think the Infy people have created really marvellous campus out there. i got to hear that in infy the pay hikes are little slow and the very limited allowances are there, may be they are putting all that money into this infra structure building but whatever it is, infy campus is awesome. I cant explain you the feeling but when i was in the campus it was like i was in some US University or some thing. The auditorium is tooo good . and they have one huge building for just library and they have many cafeterias like one for telugu people ,one for bengalis and so on. And i was awestruck when i saw the sports building they have 2 rows of 10 Pool tables in each row and big gymnasium, laundry, swimming pool, basket ball, tennis court, every thing is great. If u happen to be in bangalore do check it out!!!!!!!!!. Its really worth it.

Log file analyzer

Hey if any one know any good open source log file Analyzer please let me know. i am badly in need of it

Today i was searching  for a log file reader or you can say Log file analyzer. I tryed sourceforge.net and google but i could not find what i wanted. this is what is my requirement, see i have an applactions that is going to update around 10 log files, that applaction is going to process some records which will travel around 10 processes and each process will produce one logfile  so when the  record is lost some where, i will be able to figure out where it is struck in those 10 process by looking at the log’s. but the problem is now the log files is plane text format so it a little bit difficult to look and find. so if  there is any good GUI based log file anlayaser please please comment here or email me

I have found one log file anlayaser which i would like to share it with you may be you may find it usefull for your applactions, but the thing is not doesn’t fit my needs.

Apache Chainsaw.

Chainsaw v2 is a companion application to Log4j written by members of the Log4j development community. Like a number of Open Source projects, this new version was built upon inspirations, ideas and creations of others. Chainsaw v2 has it’s roots from the original Chainsaw utility written by Oliver Burn, and with inspiration from the Log Factor 5 utility contributed by ThoughtWorks Inc.

Basically what this tool does is it sits like a demon and read all the logs that the application produces and display in a very color full way in a GUI , for this to work you need to configure your application log4j.xml to the settings show in the documentation of the apache chainsaw tool. But in my application there is no log4j.xml to configure, instead it has some proprietary code for writing log’s so i cant use this tool :(

Here is the screen shot of the tool (click on the pic for the larger view)

Bheemeshwari Shivanasamudra talakad on a weekend

Quite some time back I was on a trip to places near banglore on a weekend.I had gone cruising through these places in an cab with kamesh, Japa, Venkat.

The route

Out of all the spots I have done some adventures as in White water rafting. It was awesome man, It was strating from Bheemeswari running down till a remote place 2km away from Muttathi. It was a rollercoster ride of about 9km for about 2.5 hours. We seriously had gr8 fun after long weekends in the Office for these specific reasons,

1. The boat was a small one which fits only four of us and a Captain(Guide). (Rest all others were having 8 + 1) :P

2. Mukhesh, the Captain-guide was very supportive we did full hangama in the river :)

Thirdly the best part was when we had encounter with a real croc ( supposedly an alligator) sitting still as a rock there quiet  and we crept in near her/he (not sure) as detectives closing in their thieves and actually took in on our tapes. All of a sudden it jumped into the water and we were really scared of even looking at the water we were rafting in. check out video

But Mukhesh (Captain – Guide) assured us that it will be as scared as we are, and we continued to raft like hell in the gushing waters of Riv.Cauvery. At one point there was Onam going on early in that river, we were competing with our small boat with the others in our group. We were allowed to float in the water for a while when the water got calmed down and you guys can have glimpse of it in the video below.

The tour video

Then we went to sivanasamudram it was toooooo good water fall and at that time too much of water also was gallopping through, infact the waterfall is split into two….. you can see in the video man, I cannot tell u in words but the feeling itself was amazing and later we continued our jounrney to the sandy ranches of Riv.Cauvery again at Talakad. There is a temple there which is half immersed in sand and we could not see it as it was getting very late and there was heavy rain we just saw the beatuful Riv. Cauvery  and Round boats in which people were having their rides.

The road from Talakad to NH209 was completly screwed up. And I would like to add an very interesting yet controversial point here. When we were passing through lakes of the country side we saw the beautiful sky filled up with stars and suddenly we saw a falling star.

We had a very great weekend & I was filled with so much of  joy for seeing so much of Greenary and beautiful River Banks of different kinds, unlike the concrete jungle that I was there for almost an year……..

Thanks Kamesh for writing this to me and for the image work :) )
